Being Plucked Doesn’t Kill You

I’m Not Beautiful, she said!

She believed it deep within herself, every time she looked at herself in the mirror all she saw were the parts she didn’t like. With these parts how could anyone love me she said! I don’t look like the actress in the movies or on social media who get all the likes and followers etc, I’m just not worth anything.

The English rose pictured is covered in thorns, they prick the skin, they hurt, they’re hard to hold and not really that pleasant to look at sometimes. Yet many people see them as a thing of beauty, and they are, as are Lilies, orchids, Tulips, Daffodil’s. The rose has those prickly thorns for its protection, they’re not flaws they have a purpose.

Would a garden have much interest if every single flower was a red rose, without thorns? NO

Is a Rose everyone’s favourite flower? NO

Does everyone who walks past a rose want to pluck it? NO

Will the rose bush die if someone did pluck one or 2 of the flowers? NO

Does a couple of flowers being plucked mean the bush is broken? NO

Will the flower that person plucked have as much enjoyment and pleasure from the flower as the one who planted it in the garden, nurtured it etc? NO

She had met some men in her life who just wanted to pluck her rose and she believed that because those flowers were plucked from her bush that she was broken. She felt without the part of her love that was taken she would never be enough for anyone else. Yet every year the rosebush flowers again even if ALL flowers were plucked from it.

So what of guys that are just after 1 thing from her? They may have had a pluck but after that all there is is a memory, their loss 🙂

Not all men want society’s idea of a beautiful woman – size 8-10 catwalk model type, so far most of the men I have spoken to on this subject prefer a lady with some curves. Very much in the same way not all women want a man who is covered in muscles, many prefer a dad bod.

Once she realised that those parts of her she thought weren’t attractive were actually serving her by putting off the men where were not the type of man who were in alignment with her values the way she saw herself in the mirror changed completely.
